Post subject: Macbook Pro metal edge around screen is warped - won't close Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 12:46 am |

My son accidently lost his balance and stepped on the 17" laptop, pushing the screen back further than it ever should go. The metal strip that says "MacBook Pro" was bent out ever so slightly and this keeps the machine from closing 100% without help. Now when I hit the button to open the machine, the lid pops up quickly due to the force.
So I need to either take the screen off and out of the metal casing to bend it back, or I need a new top section to replace the bent piece...any suggestions?

You can try to bend it back, but if its not fixable, the only way to get any parts for the Macbook 17" display besides the LCD right now is a complete display from Apple which is over $800.
