I recently purchased a used iBook G4, and I would like to upgrade to a larger hard drive and more memory. Since I bought the laptop used will I be able to successfully install a new HD if I have no recovery disks or software backups? I'm not worried so much about any personal files - mainly the operating system and the basic software. Can a backup disk be created from the computer? This is my first mac so I'm not sure how all of this works.

If you have the admin password you can clone the data over to a new drive but otherwise you'd need to purchase system software to install on the new drive.
