I already bought a new hard drive online for my iBook, but am now feeling a little scared to try installing it myself (after being warned by our Mac Tech at work). Does PowerBook Medic install drives not bought from them?

We do not. We do have some take-apart guides if you want some guidance to see if you think you can do it yourself.
