My iBook G4 has an odd keyboard problem. In lower case all keys are fine. In upper case using Shift they all work fine except "Shift s" which produces nothing. However Caps Lock and "s" produces a nice upper case "s" Anyone have an idea what's wrong?

OK - I see there are lots of "looks" but no replies. I found the answer by perusing Mac Help files. If you have assigned a "hot key" in the Speakable Items panel, that key is no longer available for other purposes. Sure enough I had inadvertantly assigned Shift-s as the hot key to start reading text. I changed that to Ctrl-s and now I have my upper case s back!
