 Post subject: 17' powerbook g4 start up chime but no sound.

Hello!

I have bought an old G4 17' powerbook 1ghz, 1gb ram, running osx 10.4.
The previous owner dropped it and the sound stopped working completely.

I have installed a new sound board and cable, new installation of osx, reset the pram and pmu.
Now I get a start up chime (which didn't before) but not sound when started up.

Any ideas as I am all out and can't find a solution online :( there is no error message.
All settings in the midi prefs are fine. No garage band installed to reset the sound.

The chime also works through headphones when booting.

Any help would be much appreciated.
