Hi there,

my laptop screen does not display fully when open all the way, it is very very dark.
but
when i only open it 1/2 way, the display is fine.

is this a connection issue?
and how can it be fixed.

any help would be fantastic!

If the backlight works at some angles but not at others, it is usually going to be the inverter cable is damaged and getting pinched in the hinge area.

I have the same/similar problem with a 17" Powerbook.
My Powerbook spends 90% of its time sitting in front of my desktop PC monitor. When the screen/display is open fully (90ยบ), I have a reliable, steady display with no flicker. However, if I begin to close it, it will either flicker or go completely black. Sometimes slowly tilting it back open will restore the screen, sometimes I have to close it and open it up again after a couple of seconds.
This appears to be a connection issue in the hinge area, since it's movement related.
Justin, you point to the inverter cable, which would make sense in my situation. Do I follow the display removal procedure to replace this, or do I not have to go quite as far.
Do you guys sell this cable for the Alum. 17" PB?
Thanks,
J.P.
