The take-apart manual on this site is great, and I am considering upgrading to superdrive and the hard drive on my PB G4 12". Every other Mac upgrade site advises that these upgrades should not be attempted on the 12" except by a professional. However, after looking at the manual, this install doesn't seem that daunting - lots of stuff to keep track of, but no soldering, etc.

Question - would posters here recommend that an individual with above average tech skills attempt this install? $95 isn't that much to pay for labor, but it is the challenge that is also appealing!!!

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

The repair isn't necessarily difficult, but it is time consuming, and there is a lot to keep track of. There is no soldering involved however.
