Lower 1/3 of PB Aluminum 1.5 15" LCD is blank. Applying pressure to on bottom left of screen with finger seems to alleviate the problem. I had the exact problem fixed last year under warranty, but it seems to have come back. Is this a known defect with apple PB LCDs? Would the only fix would be to replace LCD?

Whenever you have banding (when thirds of the display go black or have odd color pixelations) it is an LCD issue, and the only way to fix the issue is to replace the LCD. Replacements are available at our online store.

I have the same problem unfortunately. It started off as intermittent and got steadily worse. It was 'fixable' by jiggling the display open/closed a bit.

I thought it would be a faulty cable with an intermittent contact - but I replaced the cable and it made no difference. :-(

So I guess you're right - and it needs a new display...

PS. I suppose taking the display unit apart is out of the question? :D
