Post subject: Can't open corners of G4 15" PB screen Posted: Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:21 pm |

The screen on my 15" Aluminium as become loosely connected to its hinge block, so I need to open the screen to get at the screws and tighten them.
So far, I've been able to remove the Torx screws and all of the side clips, but the corners refuse to budge and I don't want to go any further or push any harder and bend or break something.
I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know what to do next—I imagine there is glue involved.
If it is epoxy, then I guess it's "Game over", but if it is a heat glue, could I use an iron set to low and soften the glue? The model is a 1GHz Al Book.
Or should I just wedge in a couple of spudgers and leave it overnight?
Thanks in advance.

There shouldn't be any adhesive on the back display cover. Sometimes it does take some force to get it off, but I would suggest using a spudger around if needed. Just make sure the two torx screws are removed and start at one of those bottom corners and work it around.

You were right—it just needed a little more spudging and it popped off. Unfortunately, so did the little metal clip welded to the lid. For some reason, this didn't seem to affect reassembly. Maybe the grey plastic liner does most of that work.
Cheers!
