I'm getting intermittant pink noise on my powerbook. I can make it go away if I press on the screen near the top around the latch..

I'm wondering if this is just a cable issue requiring replacement or something more serious?

Thanks,
Steve

There really aren't any cable up there at the latch, so it is going to be the LCD going bad.

Arrgh

Oh well, maybe I'll try reseating the cable for giggles beforfe I order a new LCD. I don't know if pressing on things actually does anything, it seems randomly intermittant, but doesn't happen on an external monitor.

Thanks,
Steve

I have had a similar problem with my 15" 1.67Ghz Powerbook for a long time. You can see a screenshot here:

This was resolved by replacing the logic board, but as soon as it was out of warranty the problem occurred again, and I have noticed that when I tap the casing in the bottom-right area, the problem sometimes goes away. Also, this issue does not affect any seconday monitors.

I would be interested to know if you have managed to resolve this problem in any way :?

I'm the OP.

I fixed the problem by disassembling, cleaning and reseating the LCD cable.
