 Post subject: harddrive on 15" power book broken?

For about a week now I have been having problems with my mac. After about 30 min or so the harddrive will start to run real loud and my computer will freeze. I dont know what is wrong, i have even reinstalled osx and am still having the problem. Do I just need to get a new harddrive or what? Anyone help would be much appreciated.
