I exchanged my broken LCD panel in a 15" 2005 model Aluminum Powerbook. Everything went well, except that it doesn't look like "millions of colors" any more - it looks a bit more like, say, 32000 colors or so. Gradients in images, or simply a gradient box drawn up in Photoshop look very edgy.

The new LCD panel is model no B152EW01 V0 (04/04), and the specs say it's supposed to have 260K colors - which sounds like it should be enough to give me nice results. The old panel is a Samsung one (for which I couldn't find specs).

The System Profile notes that I have a 32bit screen, which is, technically speaking, not quite right. I suppose the system didn't pick up the change - do I need to tell the firmware (or whatever) about it? How?

Where did you get the panel from? There are some LCDs out there that will work in the aluminums but that will not display the proper resolutions due to the video card settings, so I'm thinking you've got one of those. The ones we sell at our store are the proper versions that you need.
