A1136 30GB audio problem

my A1136 won't play music audio, but i can hear the click of the wheel and clicks when i make a selection. Any idea what's gone wrong? sync's and controls ok, just no sound.

I would restore it in iTunes just to rule out a software issue, but it is most likely a problem with the headphone module or worst case a problem with the sound processor on the logic board.
