Post subject: Ibook G4 freezes and stuck at blue screen??
Posted: Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:40 pm
ok, my ibook g4 was working fine and dandy a week ago, when suddenly it froze a couple days ago. I restarted it and just got a blue screen after the apple logo. Whats weird is that if I wait 10 mins I can get to the desktop but it will just freeze in under 5 mins. I have tried all that I can think of:
Disk Utility repair permissions (says its ok), repair (says its ok), and erase
after erasing I installed a fresh install. same problem
I tried the fsck thing in single user mode and it said my HD is ok.
one thing im wondering about is that no matter gow much I erase there is about 40 MB still being used??
Can anyone help me before I throw this thing out the window?
no, actually it cant. It freezes like half way through. what I did was booted it into disk mode and hooked it up to a differant laptop and started the install from there. Any suggestions??
alright, just ran disk utility, it said there was MAJOR errors in the volume. so I ran diskwarrior (on a macbook) and restored it. Now im gonna cross my fingers, erase all free space and install Mac os x again. will report back if it works
