I noticed that your PowerBook medic store site does not show an upgrade of 1 Gig for a Powerbook Prism...the max you show is 500 and something. Does this indicate that the higher 1 gig upgrade is not recommended for Pismo?

Note your question but find no answers. I have same question since a friend of mind indicates that 1G is OK. Manuals, however, do show 500 as being the acceptable maximum Ram. If you get differing answers I would sure like to hear from you. Bob Shaw

The Pismo manual stated 512MB limit simply because larger chips weren’t available at that time. 1GB is perfectly supported, I have used it for over two years. The only caveat is that if swapping batteries live, it has to be done very quickly in order to not lose CPU power, that's all.

My Pismo finally got stable the day I got rid of the Apple-original 64mb RAM.
I now have two Techworks high-density 512-mb cards -- the PC-133 RAM is slightly faster, but that makes no difference, still limited to 100mhz on the Pismo.
But the high-density chips are much smaller -- each card is half the size of the older large cards --so half the space in each card slot is free for air movement, too.

Do the 2x512 MB RAM PC-100 chips generate more heat than smaller RAM chips?
