Post subject: Hard drive got VERY loud, now is VERY slow  Posted: Wed Oct 22, 2003 4:48 pm |

My Pismo's 48 gig Travelstar started making really loud noises this morning, and is now very slow. I tried to reinstall system software and gave up after five hours of a snail's pace installation.
I'm thinking of just going out and getting a new drive. Is there a chance the problem is something else?

If the drive itself is making a loud noise, then most likely you'll have to replace the drive.
