Pismo won't run off of AC

My pismo is not running off of the AC adapter. The battery is slowly depleting because it can't be recharged when plugged in. Pismo will not start at all when battery removed and AC adapter plugged in. Checked for power from AC adapter and it is there. What's the deal?

Are there external battery chargers for the pismo battery so I can get around this for now?

Are you using the original Yo-yo AC adapter that came with your Pismo? I had two yo-yo adapters fail on me that looked fine until VERY close examination when I discovered that both AC adapters developed frays in the delicate wires. (It appeared like little burn marks inside the semi-clear wire.)

I have since purchased a third-party AC adapter that has a thicker, more insulated wire running from the Pismo to the actual AC adapter next to the outlet. I haven't had any problems since.

Ahh.. very good.. It must be the original.. I thought I saw a spark in the wire last night right next to the plug that goes into the computer... After your message I tried moving the wire around there while trying to turn the computer on without the battery and saw a spark and computer turned on then... Thanks! BTW what third-party adapter do you use?

My replacement AC adapter is from MCE Products. They have a website that you can order from (I think it's store.mcetech.com or something like that). There are also a few other companies that offer AC adapters for the Pismo so you might want to shop around. Just be sure you can see a picture of the AC adapter and make sure the wire around where it plugs into the Pismo appears to be reinforced (or at least doesn't have that angle where it's likely to get bent sharply and then fray the wire).
